TOPIC: WHAT ARE YOUR LITTLE OFFERINGS TO GOD TODAY?
First Reading: Romans 8: 18-25
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 126: 1b-2ab, 2cd-3, 4-5, 6
Alleluia: Matthew 11: 25
Gospel: Luke 13: 18-21
Our gospel today from Luke 13:18-21, shows Jesus comparing the kingdom of God to a mustard seed, that when planted and fully grown, can be as big as a large bush where birds of the sky can dwell. The analogy shows us how something of small origin can become big.
When we experience the desire to follow Christ and offer our lives to Him, we might think too lowly of ourselves, question our talents and resources and think that our offerings are too puny and insignificant. Sometimes we even think we have nothing to offer to the Lord.
But Jesus reminds us that there is nothing too small or too little that God cannot make big or cannot honor if our offering comes from a sincere heart. St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus reminds us, “Remember that nothing is small in the eyes of God. Do all that you do with love.”
This is the 1285th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
