TOPIC: AS A CHRISTIAN, ARE YOU STRIVING TO BE A GOOD CITIZEN?
First Reading: Second Peter 3: 12-15a, 17-18
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 90: 2, 3-4, 10, 14 and 16
Alleluia: Ephesians 1: 17-18
Gospel: Mark 12: 13-17
When the Pharisees asked Jesus if it was lawful to pay the census tax to Cesar, He said: “Repay to Cesar what belongs to Cesar and to God what belongs to God.”. Our Lord Jesus Christ was emphasizing that it is a basic duty to obey authority, to give what is due to earthly authority in the same way that one is mandated to fulfill his obligation to God.
We cannot separate our faith in God from the reality of life in the world. Our faith must be exercised in our day to day lives, in our daily realities, and that includes following authorities of the land.
This is the 1499th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
