In our Gospel today, our Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples, “No one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive a hundred times more in this present age…”. This is Christ’s promise for those who will give up important things or even persons for His sake!
St. Irenaeus said, “God did not tell us to follow Him because He needed our help, but because He knew that loving Him would make us whole.” God created us all out of the overflowing love that is His nature. As we respond to His love, let us give back everything to Him, trusting that He is the one who can love more than we do, and He is the one who has the best plan, not us.
This is the 1775th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
