Topic: Do I love my family and others the way Jesus does? (4 May 2025 - Only By Grace Reflections )

First reading: Acts 5:27-32, 40b-41
Second reading: Revelation 5:11-14
Gospel: John 21:1-19

Three times, echoing Peter’s three denials, Jesus had asked, "Do you love me?" Each answer from Peter is met with a mission: "Feed my lambs. Tend my sheep. Feed my sheep."

Jesus does not only forgive Peter; He entrusts him with the care of His flock. Jesus concludes with a powerful, personal call: "Follow me." A call that points toward a path of love, leadership, sacrifice — even martyrdom — but ultimately, eternal union with Christ.

On Easter Sunday, Pope Francis offered one last gift to the Church he cherished: a humble ride among the faithful in St. Peter’s Square, following the Urbi et Orbi blessing. Among his final words were “Thank you for bringing me back to the Square.” His final blessing, his final embrace, and his final “thank you” were acts of deep tenderness to a world he never ceased to love.
