TOPIC: DO YOU BELIEVE IN GOD’S ANOINTING UPON THOSE WHO ARE SENT TO DO HIS MISSION?
First Reading: First Thessalonians 5: 1-6, 9-11
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 27: 1, 4, 13-14
Alleluia: Luke 7: 16
Gospel: Luke 4: 31-37
Today's gospel reminds us of the power of Christ’s word, which reflect his authority over everything, for even unclean spirits obey him. His authority and the power of His words stem from His integrity and holiness, and His anointing as the Son of God, the One sent to show us the way and bring salvation.
Although many did not acknowledge and believe in Him due to their pride and unbelief, all accounts told about Him consistently testify to His authority. Indeed, anyone who is called by the Lord our God, and commits to a life according to His purpose, will be invested with authority along the way, according to the power of the Holy Spirit.
This is the 1229th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
