TOPIC: ARE WE WILLING TO BE FOOLS FOR CHRIST?

First Reading: First Corinthians 3: 18-23
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 24: 1bc-2, 3-4ab, 5-6
Alleluia: Matthew 4: 19
Gospel: Luke 5: 1-11

Reflecting on Peter's words in the light of our first reading today, we can say that he may have considered himself wise with respect to fishing, but he became a "fool" by putting out into deep water at the command of Jesus.

My dear brothers and sisters, what Peter learned is a lesson for us as well. We naturally prefer the "wisdom" of remaining to be in control and doing things our way even though all our own efforts leave us empty-handed and frustrated.

Jesus is asking us to be "fools" and try to do things his way according to
his unreasonable instructions. The result would be astonishing and humbling ⏤ far greater than anything we could accomplish on our own. By whatever name we are known today, may we remain faithful to our identity as sons and daughters of God and committed to our mission of following our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the 1592nd installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Rouquel Ponte, a member of the CFC Board of Elders, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
