TOPIC: DO YOU PUT YOUR HEART IN EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO FOR OUR GOD?
First Reading: First Kings 8: 22-23, 27-30

Gospel: Mark 7: 1-13
In our gospel today, Jesus reminds us not to miss the point of our faith expression. He addressed the Pharisees by pointing out that the rituals they performed, which focused only on outward appearances, missed the real point of honoring God with their hearts.
Jesus reminds us to focus not so much on the physical rituals that we should observe, although those practices remind us of our faith and God’s works, because we might neglect what is more essential which is our observance of His commandments, our personal relationship with Him, our love for Him and one another.
St. Francis of Assisi tells us, “Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received, only what you have given: a full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice, and courage.”. In everything that we do, let us be guided by the Holy Spirit, desiring only to love God and one another.
