TOPIC: HOW DO WE LOVE GOD AND OUR NEIGHBOR?
First Reading: Second Timothy 1: 1-3, 6-12
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 123: 1b-2ab, 2cdef
Alleluia: John 11: 25a, 26
Gospel: Mark 12: 18-27
Love of God and love of neighbor is the only way to live, even if the result is we suffer like a criminal, like Paul who, when he wrote this letter, was in chains, but who declared that “the word of God is not chained”. (2 Timothy 2:9)
My brothers and sisters, today the Word of God challenges us to reflect more deeply on how the Lord loves us, and to make his love the solid foundation of following his two-fold commandment: “The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:29-31)
This is the 1501st installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Rouquel Ponte, a member of the CFC Board of Elders, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
