Gospel: Luke 1: 26-38
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. Today’s gospel in Luke 1:26-38 recounts the story of the angel Gabriel going to Galilee and appearing to Mary. What an incredible encounter! Would any of us have shown the same courage and humility as Mary? Do we truly recognize Mary's bravery in this story? We normally perceive her as a gentle, pure figure, but do we acknowledge her as the resilient, brave young woman who fearlessly embraced God's will, despite the potential condemnation by society? She understood the grave risks involved, knowing she could face death by stoning for conceiving out of wedlock. Yet, she said YES. She embraced it. Her unwavering faith in God's presence and protection sustained her.
