(1 Timothy 1:5)
"The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith."
Observation:
In this verse, Paul is teaching us that the most important goal of everything we do as Christians is love. He points out that this kind of love doesn’t just come from anywhere—it comes from three things: a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.
Let’s break down each of these. First, a pure heart means having a heart that is clean from sin, free from selfish motives, and focused on doing what is right. It means that our actions come from a place of honesty and goodness, not because we want to look good in front of others, but because we genuinely care.
Next, a good conscience is like an inner voice that helps us know what is right and wrong. When we have a good conscience, it means we’re listening to that voice and trying our best to make good choices. It’s about being true to our values, even when no one is watching, and doing the right thing because it’s what God wants for us.
Finally, sincere faith is believing in God with our whole heart, not just pretending to follow Him on the outside. It means that our faith is real, deep, and genuine. We trust God completely, and we believe in His promises, even when life gets tough.
Paul teaches that when we have these three things—a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith—they come together to create a love that is true and powerful. This love isn’t just words we say; it’s the way we treat people, the way we help those in need, and the way we forgive others when they hurt us.
Application:
How can we apply this in our daily lives? Let’s start with a pure heart. We can ask God to help us clean out any bitterness, anger, or selfish thoughts that are hiding inside us. Maybe there’s someone we need to forgive, or maybe we need to
