A Journey Through Lent with Fr. Joel Jason (2025) | Fourth Sunday Reflection
The Parable of the Prodigal Son is one of the most well-known stories in the Bible. The younger son, in asking for his inheritance, was essentially telling his father, "I can't wait for you to die." And yet, out of love, the father gave him his share.
In that moment, the son doubted his father’s love and provision. As St. John Paul II reminds us, sin is precisely that—doubting the fatherhood of God. Though God is always ready to provide for us, we sometimes struggle to trust in His generosity. Instead of receiving His gifts with open hearts, we try to take them on our own terms. And that makes all the difference.
