ACT ON THE WORD OF GOD | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (July 13, 2025) with Sign Language

Jesus responds by asking what is written in the law and how he reads it. The law scholar gives a summary, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. Jesus affirms his understanding of the law and tells him, Do this and you will live.

Yet, the law scholar adds another question, and who is my neighbor? Jesus answers with a parable, not with a definition. On the road to Jericho, a man was robbed, beaten, and left for dead. A priest passed but went to the opposite side. A Levite came and did the same then a Samaritan arrived, moved with compassion.

He approached the victim, dressed his wounds, and brought him to an inn, instructing the keeper to take good care of him. To the Lord's question, the law scholar indicates the one who treated the other with mercy as the neighbor. The Lord tells him to do the same. This is the invitation to us act on the Word of God.
