ALMIGHTY GOD,
I remember as a child being afraid of the dark and having to sleep with a night-light. I even had Mom or Dad check under the bed and in the closet for “monsters”.
Bad weather and strange noises were other fear-producers. I outgrew those and other childhood terrors but replaced them with new ones. Instead of monsters or the unknown, people became the source of my fears—and they still are.
In certain situations I’m afraid that bad people will harm me, but usually the threat is not physical. Instead, my apprehensions concern what they could say about me or how they might treat me socially. I fear separation and heart-wounds, rejection and loss, arguments and insults.
