Firstfruits (ἀπαρχή, aparchē) refers to the first portion of a harvest, offered to God in thanksgiving and faith for the full harvest to come. In 1 Corinthians 15:20, Paul calls Jesus the "firstfruits" of those who have fallen asleep—meaning His resurrection is just the beginning. It guarantees that all who belong to Him will also be raised. His glorified body is the preview of what’s in store for every believer. Our future is not decay, but glory.
