According to the Gospel of Luke, one of the thieves mocked Jesus, while the other recognized Jesus' innocence and asked Him to remember him when He entered His kingdom. In response, Jesus said to the thief, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43, NIV). The fate of the thief is understood to be a demonstration of God's grace and forgiveness, emphasizing the possibility of redemption and salvation even in the last moments of a person's life.
