When his parents separated at a young age, Terrence grew up as a shy boy. After his mom passed away, he went to live with his dad and new family. He got along well with his stepsister and stepbrother Vince. Terrence's stepsister immediately tried to learn sign language to communicate with him.
However, Vince's friends made fun of Terrence for being deaf and mute. So Vince confronted them. Vince told Terrence that while he wasn't skilled in sign language, they could still understand each other through their hearts.
