Matthew 8:4. Jesus said to him, See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.

When the priest declared the man healed - the evidence would be obvious and it would allow Jesus miracle to be verified by the Jewish establishment. Jesus is the Messiah and He came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it. Matthew 5:17.
