Devotional Message:

BEYOND PHYSICAL SIGHT
READ: Mark 8:11-26

(Mark 8:22-23)
"They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, 'Do you see anything?'"

In this verse, we encounter a powerful story of Jesus healing a blind man. Imagine being in that blind man's shoes—unable to see the world around him, feeling lost and helpless. But then, Jesus comes along. He takes the man by the hand and leads him away from the chaos and noise of the village.

Sometimes, life can feel like a noisy, confusing village—filled with distractions, doubts, and difficulties. But Jesus invites us to step away from the noise and chaos, to come into His presence, where there is peace and clarity.

Notice how Jesus doesn't just heal the blind man instantly. He could have simply spoken a word and restored his sight. But instead, Jesus choses to engage with him personally. He spits on the man's eyes and touches him—a gesture of intimacy and connection.

In our own lives, Jesus wants to engage with us personally too. He wants to meet us where we are, in the midst of our struggles and challenges. He's not distant or uncaring; He's right there, reaching out to us with love and compassion.

When Jesus asks the blind man, "Do you see anything?" it's not just about physical sight. It's a question that goes much deeper. Jesus wants to know if the man sees Him—not just with his eyes, but with his heart.

Similarly, Jesus asks us today, "Do you see anything?" He wants us to see Him—to recognize His presence, His goodness, and His power at work in our lives. Even when our circumstances seem dark and uncertain, Jesus is still there, ready to open our eyes to the truth.
