Devotional Message:

(Mark 8:34)
"Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.'"

In this verse, Jesus is speaking to a crowd of people, including his disciples, and he is inviting them into a deeper commitment. Jesus is telling us that following him isn't always easy. It's a decision that requires us to put aside our own desires and plans. Instead, we need to prioritize what God wants for our lives.

Taking up our cross means accepting challenges and struggles as part of our journey with Jesus. It means living with purpose and courage, even when times are tough. But Jesus doesn't ask us to do this alone. He promises to walk with us every step of the way.

When we face challenges in life, we might be tempted to give up or turn away. But Jesus encourages us to keep going. Remember, following Jesus isn't just about the destination; it's about the journey. It's about growing in faith and becoming more like Jesus each day.

So, let's take heart in knowing that when we choose to follow Jesus, we are never alone. He is our guide and strength. Let's trust in him, deny ourselves, and take up our cross, knowing that this path leads to a life filled with meaning, purpose, and God's love.
