Devotional Message:

(Mark 9:35)
"And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, 'If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.'"

This verse is Jesus' clear and direct call to us about what it means to truly lead and follow Him. Jesus turns our usual ideas of greatness and leadership upside down. In our world, being first often means having the most power, the most recognition, or being at the top. But Jesus says true greatness is not about being first in these ways. Instead, it's about being last and serving others.

Let's think about how we can apply this teaching in our lives. First, let's strive to put others ahead of ourselves. This might mean listening carefully to others, offering to help someone in need, or simply showing kindness and respect in all we do.

Second, let's remember that serving others doesn't always mean grand gestures. It can be small, everyday actions that show we care. Offering a smile, sharing a kind word, or lending a hand can make a big difference in someone's day.

Third, as we serve others, we grow closer to Jesus. By following His example of humility and service, we're not only show love to others, but we also strengthen our relationship with Him.

So, today and in the days ahead, let's embrace the call to be servant leaders. Let's put others before ourselves and seek to serve them with a heart full of love. In doing so, we follow Jesus' teaching and honor Him in our lives.

Heavenly Father, help us to follow Jesus' example of humility and service. Teach us to put others first and serve them with love and kindness. May we be faithful servants, reflecting Your grace in all we do. In Jesus' name, amen.
