Devotional Message:
"GREATER LOVE"

(John 15:13)
"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."

Introduction:

Have you ever wondered what true love really looks like? Not the kind of love we see in movies, or read about in romance stories, but real, strong, powerful love—the kind that changes lives?
In John 15:13, Jesus gives us a picture of the greatest kind of love. He says:
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
That’s a big statement. It makes us stop and think—what kind of love is this? And how can we live it out?

Observation:

Let’s take a closer look at what Jesus is saying here.

These words were spoken by Jesus the night before He died on the cross. He was sitting with His disciples, His closest friends. He had washed their feet, shared a meal with them, and told them that He would soon leave them. He was preparing them for what was about to happen—His suffering, His death, and His ultimate sacrifice.

Jesus wasn’t just giving them a good lesson. He was revealing His heart. He was showing them, and us, that the greatest kind of love isn’t just about emotions or nice words. The greatest love is about sacrifice. It’s about giving everything—even your own life—for the sake of others.

Jesus proved His love not by talking about it, but by showing it.
He carried a heavy wooden cross.
He wore a crown of thorns.
He was beaten, mocked, and nailed to that cross.
Why? Because He loves us. Because He wanted to save us from our sins. Because He wanted to give us eternal life.

Jesus gave His life willingly—not just for His disciples, but for every single person, including you and me. That is what greater love looks like.

Application:

Now that we understand what greater love is, let’s talk about how we can live it out in our everyday lives.

We may never have to literally give up our lives for someone. But
