Devotional Message:

(Mark 14:22-24)
"While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Take it; this is my body.' Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 'This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many,' he said to them."

Imagine sitting around a table with your closest friends, sharing a meal together. This was the scene in Mark 14:22-24 when Jesus gathered with his disciples for what would become known as the Last Supper.

During this meal, Jesus did something extraordinary. He took a loaf of bread, gave thanks to God for it, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Take it; this is my body.' Then, he took a cup of wine, gave thanks, and passed it to them, saying, 'This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.'

What Jesus did here was symbolic and profound. He was using ordinary elements of a meal to convey a powerful message. The bread represented his body, which would be broken for them and for us. The wine represented his blood, which would be shed for the forgiveness of sins.

In this act, Jesus was foreshadowing his impending sacrifice on the cross. He was demonstrating his love and willingness to lay down his life for humanity.
