Devotional Message:
(Exodus 16:4)
"I will rain down bread from heaven for you."

Introduction Story:

There was once a woman named Clara who loved to sew. She had a small sewing business in her home and often took in clothes for repair. One day, a customer asked her to fix a tear in a dress. Clara checked her supplies and realized that she had only a tiny piece of thread left in the exact color she needed—barely a few inches. She looked at the thread and sighed, “This string is too short to use.”

But something nudged her heart. She threaded her needle carefully and started stitching slowly, doing what she could with what little she had. To her surprise, that short string was just enough to finish the job. In the end, the dress looked good as new.

Later, Clara said something she never forgot: “It wasn’t how much string I had. It was what I chose to do with it—and God made it enough.”

Observation:

In Exodus 16, we find the people of Israel in the wilderness. They had seen God perform wonders—splitting the sea, defeating Pharaoh’s army, and leading them with a cloud by day and fire by night. But even after all that, they started to complain because they were hungry.

Instead of punishing them, God showed compassion. He promised to send bread from heaven—manna—every morning. But He gave a strange instruction: “Only gather enough for each day.” No leftovers. No storing for tomorrow.

This daily gathering was not just about food—it was a test of trust. God wanted to teach them how to rely on Him one day at a time. Not just when He parts the sea, but also when life is ordinary. Not just in miracles, but in the manna moments—those quiet, daily provisions we often overlook.

Sometimes, God gives us just enough—not because He’s holding back, but because He wants us to come back to Him every day.

Application:

Like Clara with her short piece of string, we all face moments
