Devotional Message:
(Galatians 5:16)
"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."

Have you ever planted a garden before?
If you have, you know that along with the beautiful flowers and fruits, weeds also grow.
And here is the interesting part,
you do not even have to plant the weeds.
They just appear on their own.
If you leave your garden without care, the weeds will grow faster and stronger than the plants you truly want.

The same thing happens in our hearts.
God desires to grow beautiful things inside us like love, kindness, patience, and peace.
But if we are not careful, sinful desires like anger, jealousy, selfishness, and pride will begin to grow too.
If we are not walking closely with God, we may end up watering the weeds without even realizing it.

Galatians 5:16 tells us, "Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."
This verse reminds us that every day we have a choice.
We can walk by the Spirit and allow God to grow good fruit in us,
or we can follow our selfish desires and let the weeds take over.

Think about it.
When we spend time feeding our bad attitudes, speaking hurtful words, being jealous of others, or being lazy instead of serving God,
we are watering the weeds.
When we pray, read the Bible, forgive others, show kindness, and obey God's Word,
we are watering the good seeds that the Holy Spirit planted in our hearts.

Sometimes we think,
"It is just a little anger,"
or "It is just one small lie,"
but weeds start small too.
And if we let them grow, they will soon spread everywhere and choke out the beautiful things God wants to grow in us.

Walking by the Spirit does not mean we will be perfect.
It means we are trying every day to listen to God's voice more than our own selfish thoughts.
It means when we mess up, we quickly turn back to God and ask for His help.
It means we stay close
