Devotional Message:
(Romans 7:18-19)
"For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing."
In these verses, the Apostle Paul opens his heart to us. He shares his personal struggle with sin, even as a follower of Jesus. Paul admits that, on his own, he can't do the good he wants to do. He wants to do what is right and pleasing to God, but he finds himself doing the opposite. Instead of doing good, he often ends up doing what he knows is wrong.
Paul describes this inner conflict as a battle between his desire to follow God’s law and the sinful nature that lives within him. Even though Paul loves God and wants to do good, he finds it hard to live up to that desire. This is a common experience for all of us. We want to live righteous lives, but we often fail because of our weaknesses.
Application:
Let’s think about our own lives. How many times have we promised ourselves that we would do better? Maybe we decided to be kinder, more patient, or more honest, but then we slipped back into our old ways. It can be frustrating and discouraging when we find ourselves repeating the same mistakes.
The good news is that Paul’s message in Romans 7:18-19 gives us hope. He shows us that even great people of faith struggle with sin. It’s okay to admit that we have weaknesses and that we need help. We don’t have to pretend that we have it all together.
Instead of relying on our own strength, we can turn to God. He understands our struggles and wants to help us. Here are some practical steps we can take to overcome our challenges:
1. Pray Regularly: Spend time each day talking to God about your struggles. Ask Him for the strength and wisdom to do
