Devotional Message:
(Romans 9:21)
"When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn’t he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage into?"

This verse paints a picture of a potter, skillfully molding clay into different vessels. Some are made for noble purposes, like holding flowers or treasures, while others might be used for common tasks, like carrying waste. The point is that the potter has the authority to decide the purpose of each vessel.

In the same way, God is like the potter, and we are the clay. He shapes and forms us according to His will. Just as the potter knows what each vessel is best suited for, God knows our strengths, weaknesses, and what we are meant to do in life. Sometimes, we might wonder why we are in a particular situation or why our life doesn’t look like someone else’s. But just as clay doesn’t question the potter, we are called to trust God’s plan for our lives.

Application:
The application of this verse is deeply practical. It teaches us to embrace the roles and circumstances God has placed us in, rather than comparing ourselves to others or questioning His decisions. Life is full of moments when we might feel inadequate or wonder why we aren’t in a different place or doing something else. But God, in His wisdom, has placed us exactly where we need to be.

Think of the times when you’ve faced challenges or felt that your role was less important than someone else’s. Instead of feeling discouraged, remember that the potter—the Lord—knows what He’s doing. Each of us is created for a purpose, whether it’s something visible and celebrated by others, or something quiet and behind the scenes. The important thing is that we fulfill the purpose God has given us with faithfulness and trust.
