Devotional Message:
(Revelation 9:20)
"The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk."

Observation:
Revelation 9:20 describes a sobering scene. After experiencing plagues and devastating events, humanity still refuses to repent. Instead, they continue worshiping idols—objects made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood. These idols are lifeless; they cannot see, hear, or walk. Yet people cling to them, putting their trust in things that have no power to save or help.

This verse reveals a critical truth about the human heart: it can become so hardened by sin and pride that even severe consequences fail to bring repentance. The people in this passage ignored the clear warnings of God and chose to remain in their rebellion. This shows us how dangerous it is to let sin take root in our lives. The longer we resist God, the harder it becomes to turn back to Him.

Idols in this verse represent more than just physical statues. They symbolize anything we put above God in our lives—money, success, possessions, relationships, or even our own desires. These "modern idols" may seem harmless, but when we prioritize them over our relationship with God, they become obstacles that separate us from Him.

Application:
This passage challenges us to examine our own lives. Are there areas where we are stubbornly refusing to listen to God? Are we clinging to things that cannot save us or bring us true joy? It’s easy to think, "I don’t worship idols," but idols can take many forms. Ask yourself:

Do I spend more time chasing material things than seeking God?

Do I trust my own abilities or possessions more than I trust God’s provision?

Is there a sin I know I need to let go of
