Devotional Message:
(1 John 3:18)
"Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."

Observation:
1 John 3:18 is a call to genuine love. The apostle John reminds us that love is more than words—it's something we do. It's easy to say "I love you" or make promises, but true love is shown through actions that align with truth. This verse contrasts empty words with real, meaningful deeds.

John addresses believers as "dear children," reminding us of our identity as part of God’s family. Just as God demonstrated His love by sending Jesus to die for our sins, we are called to love others in a way that is visible and practical. This love isn’t about grand gestures; it’s about consistent, selfless care for others, even in the small things.

Love in action means being attentive to the needs of those around us. It means stepping out of our comfort zones to serve, even when it's inconvenient or unnoticed. It’s about reflecting God’s love in a way that others can feel and see, not just hear.

Application:
How can we apply this verse in everyday life? Here are some practical ways:

1. Be intentional in serving others: Look for opportunities to help someone in need. It could be as simple as sharing your time, cooking a meal for someone going through a tough time, or lending a listening ear to a friend.

3. Practice sacrificial love: Real love often requires giving up something—your time, energy, or resources. Ask yourself, "How can I show God's love through my sacrifice today?"


4. Examine your motives: Are you loving others for recognition, or is your heart focused on serving God through your actions? Pure motives make your love more meaningful.


5. Encourage someone today: Sometimes, love in action means simple encouragement. Write a note, send a kind message, or give someone a heartfelt compliment.


John challenges us to let our actions speak louder than our words. Imagine if everyone in your community practiced this kind of love—how much brighter would the world be?

Lord, thank You for showing us what real love looks like through Jesus. Help us to love others not just with words but with genuine actions and a truthful heart. Open our eyes to the needs around us and give us the courage to act. Amen.
