Devotional Message:
(2 John 1:6)
"And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love."

Observation:
In this verse, the apostle John reminds us what love really means. Love is not just a feeling or kind words—it’s an action. It’s about walking in obedience to God’s commands. When John talks about “walking,” he means living out our faith daily. This isn’t just a one-time decision; it’s a continuous journey.

From the beginning, God’s command has been clear: we are to love Him and love others. But how do we do that? By following His Word. For example, when we forgive someone who hurt us, that’s love. When we help a neighbor in need, that’s love. When we speak kindly instead of harshly, that’s love.

Notice how John connects love with obedience. This shows us that love is not separate from our relationship with God—it’s deeply tied to it. We can’t say we love God if we aren’t willing to follow His instructions. At the same time, our love for others proves that we understand and live out His teachings.

Application:
Think about your daily life. Are there areas where you struggle to show love? Maybe it’s hard to be patient with a family member, or perhaps you find it challenging to forgive someone who wronged you. Reflect on this: obedience to God means choosing love, even when it’s hard.

Here are some practical steps to walk in love:

1. Start your day with God’s Word. When you know His commands, you’ll know how to live them out.


2. Choose kindness in small moments. A smile, a kind word, or a helping hand can make a big difference.


3. Forgive quickly. Holding onto anger only hurts you. God calls us to forgive because He forgave us first.


4. Pray for those who are hard to love. Ask God to soften your heart and give you strength to love them as He does.

When we walk in love, we show the world who God is. Our obedience and love become a testimony to others, drawing them closer to Him.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us what true love looks like through Jesus. Help us to walk in obedience to Your commands and love others as You have loved us. Give us strength to show kindness, patience, and forgiveness in our daily lives. May our actions reflect Your love and draw others closer to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
