“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

In this verse, God introduces Himself as the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end. These words are from the Greek alphabet, showing us that God is the first, the last, and everything in between. He is timeless, existing in the past, present, and future. He was there when the world began, and He will be there when it ends.

Let’s pause for a moment and think about what this means for us. First, it reminds us that no matter how uncertain life feels, God is steady and unchanging. Life can be full of surprises—good and bad. We make plans, but things don’t always go as expected. Maybe you’re facing struggles right now. Perhaps you feel like you’re at a breaking point or unsure about what’s ahead. Revelation 1:8 tells us we don’t have to carry these worries alone because the God who has seen the beginning and knows the end is walking with us today.

God also describes Himself as "Almighty." This means He is all-powerful. Nothing is too hard for Him—your biggest problems, your smallest concerns, and even the things you’re afraid to admit to others. Sometimes we feel like we have to solve everything on our own, but this verse reminds us to lean on the One who can do what we cannot.

So, how do we apply this truth to our lives? First, we need to surrender our plans and worries to God. Trusting in His eternal nature doesn’t mean we won’t face challenges, but it does mean we can face them with peace. When fear creeps in, remind yourself, “God is in control."

Second, this verse calls us to live with hope. Because God is the beginning and the end, we can trust that He has a purpose for everything in between. He is not only the Creator of the world but also the one writing your story. No
