Perseverance in Hardship
READ: Revelation 2:1-17

(Revelation 2:2-3)
"I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary."

In these verses, we see the affirmation of Christ Himself towards the church in Ephesus. He commends them for their diligent efforts, their unwavering commitment, and their unwavering faithfulness. There are a few valuable lessons we can extract from these verses to apply to our own lives.

The first thing we notice is that God sees and acknowledges our deeds. He recognizes our hard work, no matter how big or small. Take heart in knowing that every act of kindness, every effort made for the Kingdom, is seen by our Heavenly Father. Your labor is not in vain, and it matters to God.

The Ephesian church stood firm against wickedness. They refused to tolerate evil and remained steadfast in their moral principles. We are called to do the same. In a world filled with temptation and moral decay, let us be unwavering in our commitment to live righteous lives, always standing up for what is good and just.

The Ephesian church also diligently tested those who claimed to be apostles but were false in their teachings. They were discerning and careful in their pursuit of spiritual truth. In our own lives, we must be discerning as well. Let us not be easily swayed by enticing but false teachings, but rather search and study the Word of God to discern truth from lies.
