Daily Bread Devotional:
Devotional Topic: "REFLECTING HIS LIGHT"

Verse of the Day: John 1:4

Devotional Message:
(John 1:4)
"In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind."

Observation:
Have you ever walked into a dark room and struggled to find your way? You reach out, trying to feel where the table is or where the chair might be, but you keep bumping into things. You move slowly because you don’t want to get hurt. But the moment you switch on the light, everything becomes clear. You see the path, the furniture, and the obstacles. You feel safer and more confident.

Life is often like that dark room. We sometimes walk through difficult times—times of sadness, confusion, or fear. We struggle to know what to do. We try to find the right path, but we feel lost. We may even hurt ourselves or others along the way because we cannot see clearly.

But the Bible tells us that in Jesus, there is life, and His life is the light for all people. Jesus is like that bright light in a dark room. When we follow Him, He helps us see the right way to live. He shows us what is good and what is bad. He guides us when we feel lost. His light brings us hope when we feel sad. It gives us peace when we are afraid. His light reminds us that we are never alone.

Light also does something special—it reflects. When you place a mirror in front of a light, it reflects the brightness to other parts of the room. In the same way, when we follow Jesus and stay close to Him, His light shines on us. And when His light is on us, we can reflect it to others.

Application:
Think about the people around you—your family, friends, classmates, and neighbors. Some of them might be walking in darkness. They may feel sad, confused, or afraid. They may be struggling with problems they do not know how to solve. They need the light of Jesus, but maybe they do not know Him yet.

God wants us to reflect His light to those people. How can we do that?

By showing kindness: When someone is feeling down, a simple act of kindness can brighten their day. A smile, a helping hand, or an encouraging word can reflect the light of Jesus.

By speaking truth: Sometimes people need to hear the truth, but it should be said with love. When we speak honestly and gently, we reflect the light of Jesus.

By showing patience: When others make mistakes or upset us, we can choose patience instead of anger. This shows them that God’s love is patient and kind.

By forgiving: When someone hurts us, it is hard to forgive. But when we forgive, we show them that God is merciful and full of grace.

By living with hope: When we face problems, we can trust God and not give up. Others will see our faith and be encouraged to seek God’s light in their own lives.

Every day, we have the chance to reflect the light of Jesus. We don’t need to do big things. Even small actions, when done with love, can shine brightly. When people see the light of Jesus in us, they may be curious to know more about Him. They may want to step out of their own darkness and walk into His light.

Let us remember: Jesus is the true light, but He invites us to reflect His light in this world. As we walk in His light, let us help others find their way to Him.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You are the light of the world. Shine Your light in our hearts and help us reflect it to others. Let our words and actions show Your love and truth. Guide us to walk in Your light every day. Amen.
