Devotional Message:
(Psalm 120:2)
"Save me, Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues."

Observation:
This psalm is part of the Songs of Ascents, sung by travelers as they made their way to Jerusalem for worship. The psalmist cries out to God, asking to be delivered from lies and deceit. These words remind us of how painful it can be to deal with untruths, whether spoken by others or the ones we sometimes tell ourselves. Lies destroy trust, divide relationships, and create confusion. The psalmist doesn’t try to fix this situation alone but turns to God as the ultimate source of truth and rescue.

We live in a world full of misinformation and dishonesty. Social media, television, or even conversations with others can be filled with half-truths, exaggerations, or outright lies. The pain caused by deceit is real. It could be gossip, false accusations, or even lies we tell ourselves, like, “I’m not good enough” or “God doesn’t care about me.” But just as the psalmist turned to God, we too can cry out to Him. God is always ready to help, guide, and bring us into the light of His truth.

Application:
Sometimes, a new beginning starts with letting go of the lies we have believed for so long. These lies could be about others, ourselves, or even our relationship with God. Take a moment to think about the voices in your life—are they speaking truth, or are they causing harm?

First, we need to be honest with ourselves and others. If there’s a lie you’ve been holding onto, ask God for the courage to face it and the strength to make things right. If someone has spoken deceitfully about you, instead of retaliating, bring it to God in prayer. He is the one who vindicates and fights our battles.

Next, replace lies with God’s truth. The Bible is filled with promises that remind us who we truly are: loved, valued, and forgiven. Meditate on these truths daily.

Finally, commit to
