"Your brother will rise again."

Observation:
The story behind John 11:23 is one of deep sorrow turned into hope. Lazarus, the brother of Martha and Mary, had been dead for four days. When Jesus finally arrived, Martha expressed her grief, saying that if He had come earlier, her brother wouldn’t have died. But Jesus, knowing the power of God and His purpose, responded with these words: “Your brother will rise again.”

At first, Martha didn’t fully understand what Jesus meant. She thought He was referring to the resurrection at the end of time. But Jesus had something greater in mind—He was about to show His power over death by raising Lazarus. This moment revealed not only that Jesus is never late but also that His timing is always perfect, even when it feels delayed to us.

Application:
How often do we feel like God is late? We pray for healing, provision, guidance, or an answer, and when it doesn’t come when we expect, we start to doubt. Like Martha, we question, “Lord, if only You had been here earlier, things would have been different.” But John 11:23 reminds us that God's timing is never wrong.

When we face difficult situations, we can hold onto the truth that God sees the bigger picture. Maybe the answer we’re waiting for is delayed because He is preparing something far greater than what we can imagine. Sometimes, God allows us to experience waiting or even loss, not to punish us but to show His glory in ways we never thought possible.

In your struggles, remember that Jesus is not indifferent to your pain. He wept for Lazarus, showing us that He understands and cares deeply for our sorrows. But more than that, He has the power to turn those sorrows into joy in His perfect time.
