Devotional Message:
(2 Corinthians 11:4)
"If someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough."

Observation:
In this verse, Paul is warning the believers in Corinth about being deceived by false teachings. He points out that there are people who preach a different version of Jesus, bring a spirit that is not from God, or share a gospel that is not true to what they had originally learned. The Corinthians were too quick to accept these false teachings without testing if they were from God.

Paul emphasizes the importance of knowing the real Jesus—the Jesus who is the Son of God, who came to save us from our sins through His death on the cross and resurrection. Any teaching that distorts who Jesus is or what He did for us is dangerous.

Even today, we can encounter "different versions" of Jesus being preached—ones that twist His message to fit personal agendas, worldly desires, or cultural trends. Some portray Jesus as merely a good teacher or moral example, while others focus only on His blessings but ignore His call to repentance and obedience.

If we don’t know the true Jesus revealed in the Bible, we can easily be misled. False teachings often sound appealing because they tell us what we want to hear, not what we need to hear. That’s why it’s important to study God’s Word and understand who Jesus really is so we can stand firm in our faith.

Application:
This verse reminds us to stay grounded in the truth about Jesus. We can do this by regularly reading the Bible, praying, and listening to teachings that are faithful to Scripture. We need to ask ourselves:

Do I truly know who Jesus is, or am I following a version of Him that I created in my mind?
