Devotional Topic: "WHAT'S MY PURPOSE?"

Verse of the Day: 2 Timothy 1:5

Devotional Message:
"WHAT'S MY PURPOSE?"

(2 Timothy 1:5)
"I am reminded of your sincere faith which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice."

🕊 Observation: A Legacy of Faith Can Begin with You

In 2 Timothy 1:5, Paul writes to Timothy, reminding him of the sincere faith that first lived in his grandmother Lois, then in his mother Eunice, and now, in him. It’s a beautiful reminder that faith is not just something we have—it’s something we pass on.

But notice: Paul doesn’t mention Timothy’s father. That means Timothy’s spiritual growth wasn’t the result of a perfect home. It came from the influence of godly women—imperfect, but faithful.

This tells us something important:
You don’t need to come from a famous family or perfect background to be part of God’s plan. You don’t need a spotlight. All you need is a sincere, living faith. One that’s seen. One that can be remembered.

Faith isn’t just private—it’s transferable. It leaves fingerprints. People may not remember our sermons or advice, but they will never forget our faith lived out.

🛠 Application: Living Out Your Purpose with Sincere Faith

Now the question: What’s my purpose?

The Bible doesn’t say everyone’s purpose is to preach from a pulpit. But it does say every believer is called to live a life of faith so sincere that it can be remembered, passed on, and imitated.

Here’s how to start:

1. Your Purpose Begins with Personal Faith

You can’t pass on what you don’t live out. Just like Timothy, your purpose begins when faith lives in you, not just around you.

|| Ask yourself: “Is my faith secondhand—borrowed from others? Or is it mine—real and alive?”

💡 Example: Don’t just go to church because it’s tradition. Go because you hunger to know God more. Read your Bible because you love His Word, not just because it’s expected.

2. Faith Doesn't Have to Be Loud to Be Strong

Lois and Eunice were not pastors. They were relational, not positional, leaders. They lived with daily faith—in the kitchen, at the bedside, through quiet prayers and repeated kindness. That’s powerful.

|| Your purpose might not be public—but it can still be eternal.

💡 Example: If you care for a child, a sibling, a classmate, or a friend, you’re already walking in purpose. Every time you share hope, every time you pray in secret, you’re building a legacy.

3. Your Purpose Might Be to Start a New Legacy

Maybe you didn’t grow up in a spiritual home. Maybe you didn’t have a Lola Lois or a Mama Eunice. That’s okay. Your story isn’t broken—it’s just beginning.

|| God can use you to begin a new line of faith. You can be the first.

💡 Example: Start simple. Pray daily. Share Bible verses with someone younger. Speak life to your children or classmates. You don’t have to be perfect—just present and faithful.

4. Sincere Faith Grows Stronger in Trials

Faith that’s never tested isn’t deep. Your purpose often becomes clear in pressure. God may use your pain, struggles, or confusion to draw others to Him.

|| What you survive may be the very story that helps someone else find Jesus.

💡 Example: If you’ve been through anxiety or loss, don’t hide it. Share what helped you. Your honest testimony could plant a seed in someone else’s heart.

5. Don’t Underestimate Quiet Influence

Timothy became a young leader in the early church because of the spiritual strength passed on by two women who likely never saw a stage.

|| Purpose is not measured by platform—but by faithfulness.

💡 Example: A short text reminding someone that God loves them. A quiet prayer before work. A life marked by patience and joy. These things speak louder than we realize.

💬 Encouragement Before Prayer:

Maybe you’ve asked, “Lord, what is my purpose?”
And God is gently answering, “Start with faith. The rest will follow.”

Purpose isn’t something you chase. It’s something you live—moment by moment, decision by decision, prayer by prayer. And often, it starts with remembering: Faith begins in small places and grows through faithful people—like you.

No matter your past. No matter how broken your family tree might feel. You can be the Lois. You can be the Eunice. You can be the one who lives a sincere faith that leads others to Jesus.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the people who passed on faith to us—and for the chance to pass it on to others. Help us live with sincere, visible faith, even in ordinary moments. Let our lives be a reminder of Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
