Devotional Message:
(John 20:24-25)
One of the twelve disciples. Thomas was not with the others when Jesus came. They told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.”

Thomas was not with them when Jesus came. Where was Thomas? Why was he not with the community of believers? We do not know, but we know he missed seeing the risen Lord. So the disciples tell him about their experience. But Thomas says, "Unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side, I won't believe."

Why do people refuse to believe in Christ? Thomas represents the doubts of many. What prevents you from believing in Christ?

Today we celebrate the witness of those gathered in community together who give testimony to the risen Lord. Think of the ways Christ is visible in your own life. How do you witness to the living Savior of the world?

Prayer:
Lord our God, we thank you that you come to help us with your power and might. We thank you that you come to us in our suffering and strengthen us in all we must endure on earth. You help us so that what is good and full of light comes more and more to us and to all people. We thank you and pray that your power, coming from the invisible world into the visible, may continue its quiet working in us until the day when everyone can see Jesus Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and into all eternity. Amen.
