👁 Observation: When Life Dries Up

In Lamentations 1:1, the prophet Jeremiah looks at the city of Jerusalem and mourns:
“How deserted lies the city, once so full of people!”

He’s not just talking about an empty street. He’s grieving over a spiritual emptiness—a city that was once full of God’s presence, now broken, abandoned, and silent. The temple that once rang with worship was now quiet. The streets that were once busy with joy were now still with sorrow.

Why did this happen? Because the people forgot God.

Little by little, they replaced Him—with idols, pride, selfish choices, and stubborn hearts. They thought they could keep the blessings without the One who gave them. They thought they were strong enough on their own.

And that’s how they ended up empty.

This isn’t just history—it’s a warning. A heart that was once full of peace, love, and purpose can grow cold and dry if God is no longer at the center. And sometimes, we don’t notice it until the silence gets loud.

You can have a full schedule… and still feel empty.
You can have hundreds of friends online… and still feel alone.
You can even be active in church… and still feel distant from God.

Like Jerusalem, the heart becomes a deserted place when it slowly walks away from the presence of God.
