Devotional Topic: "GOD'S MIGHTY POWER"

Verse of the Day: Exodus 14:31

Devotional Message:
(Exodus 14:31)
"When the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the LORD...[they] put their trust in Him."

🔎 Observation: Seeing God's Hand Changes Everything

In Exodus 14, the Israelites had just escaped Egypt after hundreds of years of slavery. But as they approached the Red Sea, they faced what looked like a trap:

In front of them, deep water.

Behind them, Pharaoh’s army.

No boat. No weapons. No chance of fighting or fleeing.

They panicked and questioned Moses:

|| “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die?” (Exodus 14:11)

They forgot all the miracles they had just witnessed—plagues, protection, freedom.
Fear erased their memory of God’s faithfulness.

But God didn’t scold them. He showed them.

He instructed Moses to stretch out his staff over the sea. And then—
the impossible happened.
The waters split. Dry ground appeared. A way was made where there had been no way.

And when the Israelites walked through the sea and saw Pharaoh’s army swallowed by the waters, they no longer just believed in the idea of God’s power.
They saw it.
They experienced it.
And that changed everything.

|| “When the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the LORD... they feared the LORD and put their trust in him.”

🛠 Application: What Happens When You See God’s Power for Yourself

God is still showing His mighty hand today. But the problem is—
we often miss it because we’re so focused on the problem in front of us.

Here’s how we can experience and respond to God’s mighty power in a personal and practical way:

✨ 1. God's Power Often Comes After Our Fear

Before God moved, the Israelites were terrified.
They said, “It would’ve been better to be slaves than to die here.”

But notice:
God didn’t need them to be fearless before He acted.
He acted in the middle of their fear.

Sometimes, we think we need to be strong and faithful for God to move.
But God shows His power to build our trust, not because we already have it all together.

|| 🙋🏽‍♀️ Maybe you’re anxious today. Maybe you feel stuck.
That doesn’t disqualify you from seeing God’s power.
It might actually be the perfect setup for God to show you who He really is.

✨ 2. Faith Is Built When You Walk Through the Sea

When God parted the Red Sea, He didn’t carry them across on clouds.
He didn’t teleport them.
He made a path—but they had to walk through it.

They had to take one step at a time, while towering walls of water stood beside them.

|| ⚠️ Faith is not the absence of danger. It’s choosing to move forward, step by step, because you trust the One who made the path.

You may not know how your story ends. But if God opened the way, you can walk through it—one step at a time.

✨ 3. God Destroys the Enemy in Ways You Didn’t Expect

Pharaoh thought he could chase them through the sea.
But God used the very waters that saved Israel to destroy their enemies.

God doesn’t just save you—He silences your enemies.
Not always people—but fears, doubts, strongholds, addictions, lies, shame.

What once chased you, God can bury in His victory.
You don’t have to carry those chains anymore.

|| 🔓 God doesn’t only lead us out of Egypt—He breaks the chains that tried to bring us back.

✨ 4. Don’t Forget What God Has Done

It’s easy to forget God’s miracles when new problems come.
But Exodus 15 shows that after seeing God’s power, the Israelites sang about it.

|| 📝 Practical step: Write down how God has helped you.
Record your Red Sea moments. Revisit them. Share them.
Because the same God who moved before is still moving now.

✨ 5. The Goal Is Trust, Not Just Escape

God didn’t just rescue the Israelites to free them from slavery.
He rescued them so they would learn to trust Him.

He wanted to be more than their Rescuer—He wanted to be their God.
Their Father. Their Shepherd. Their Defender.

|| 💬 What if the hardship you’re facing is not about the problem at all, but about growing your trust in the One who holds your future?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being the God who makes a way where there is no way. Thank You for Your mighty power that still moves in our lives today. Help us to trust You—not just after the miracle, but even in the middle of the fear. When we feel trapped, remind us that You are still fighting for us. Let our hearts be filled with faith, not fear. And may we never forget what You’ve done. You are mighty. You are faithful. We trust in You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
