🕊 Observation: Love That Confronts Gently

In Matthew 18:15, Jesus gives us a simple but powerful instruction:
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you.”

At first glance, this might sound like confrontation—and that makes many of us uncomfortable. We don’t want to be the one pointing fingers. We’d rather avoid awkward conversations. We tell ourselves, “It’s not my place,” or “Maybe someone else will say something.”

But let’s look closely. Jesus doesn’t tell us to ignore sin. He also doesn’t say to blast it on social media, spread it in whispers, or shame someone in front of others. He says:
Go to them. Privately. Lovingly. Gently.

Why?
Because sin is like a silent infection—it spreads beneath the surface. And if left alone, it can damage not just the person involved, but the entire community. Jesus knew that. And He knew that true love doesn’t stay silent.

This verse is part of a larger conversation Jesus is having about restoration. It’s not about punishing someone—it’s about winning them back. About protecting them from drifting too far. About healing what’s broken before it turns into something worse.

We live in a culture that either avoids hard conversations completely—or handles them harshly. Jesus offers us a better way. A path of both grace and truth.
