Devotional Message:
(Colossians 3:16)
"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly."

Observation

Have you ever read a book that felt like it understood exactly what you were going through? Maybe you were struggling with anxiety, and you read something that gave you comfort. Maybe you were feeling lost, and the words on the page seemed to give you direction. Some books can make us feel understood, but no book in the world compares to the Bible—the one book that truly understands us because it is the living Word of God.

Unlike ordinary books, which we read and then put away, the Bible is meant to be more than something we skim through occasionally. Paul tells us in Colossians 3:16 that the message of Christ—God’s truth revealed in Scripture—should dwell in us richly. This means it should live inside of us, filling our thoughts, influencing our words, and shaping the way we live our lives.

Think about your home. When something dwells there, it is not just visiting—it belongs there. In the same way, the Bible should not just be a guest in our lives, only picked up when we need encouragement. It should be a permanent resident in our hearts.

Paul also connects this to our relationships with others. When God's Word dwells in us, it should overflow into how we teach, encourage, and correct one another with wisdom. He even mentions that it should lead us into worship—through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. This means that when we truly let Scripture fill our hearts, it changes not just our private thoughts but also our conversations, our worship, and our gratitude toward God.

But here’s an important question: Do we truly allow God’s Word to dwell in us? Or is it something we only turn to when we are in trouble?
