Daily Bread Devotional:
Devotional Topic: "GOD KNOWS US"
Verse of the Day: Jeremiah 12:3
Devotional Message:
(Jeremiah 12:3)
"You know me, Lord; you see me and test my thoughts about you."
Observation
Jeremiah 12:3 reminds us of a deep and powerful truth: God knows us completely. Jeremiah, the prophet, was struggling with the injustice he saw around him. Evil people seemed to be thriving, while he, a servant of God, was suffering. In his frustration, he cried out to God, saying, “You know me, Lord; you see me and test my thoughts about you.”
This verse tells us that God sees everything about us—our hearts, our minds, our struggles, and our faithfulness. Jeremiah wasn’t just speaking about external actions; he was talking about his inner thoughts and emotions. He knew that God could see beyond what people see.
There are times when we feel like Jeremiah. We try to live righteously, but we see others who don’t follow God, yet they seem to be doing better in life. We may ask, “God, do you see what I’m going through? Do you see my struggles?” The answer is always yes. God sees, God knows, and God tests our hearts—not to harm us, but to refine us.
Application
1. God sees our struggles and faithfulness.
Just like Jeremiah, we might feel frustrated when life seems unfair. But we can find peace in knowing that God truly sees us. He knows the hard work we put in, the sacrifices we make, and the pain we carry. Even when no one else notices, God does.
2. God knows our thoughts and motives.
It’s easy to focus on external appearances, but God looks deeper. He sees the real reasons behind our actions. This means we should always strive to have a pure heart before Him, not just outwardly doing good but truly loving Him and others from within.
3. God allows trials to refine us.
The verse says that God "tests" our thoughts. Testing is not about punishment but about strengthening our faith. When we go through difficulties, we can either turn away from God or draw closer to Him. Instead of complaining about injustice, we can trust that God is using every challenge to shape us into stronger, more faithful followers.
4. We can trust God’s justice.
Jeremiah wanted justice against the wicked, but God works in His own perfect timing. We may not always see immediate justice, but we can trust that God will handle things according to His wisdom. Our job is not to seek revenge but to keep walking in righteousness.
5. Stay faithful even when life feels unfair.
Instead of comparing our lives to others, we should focus on staying faithful. God is watching over us, and He will reward our faithfulness in His perfect way and time. Our job is to keep trusting Him, even when we don’t understand why things happen the way they do.
Conclusion
Jeremiah’s words remind us of an important truth: We are fully known by God. He sees our struggles, understands our pain, and is testing our hearts to make us stronger. Instead of being discouraged by injustice, let’s trust that God has everything under control. He knows what He is doing, and in His perfect timing, everything will be made right.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for knowing us completely. You see our struggles, our pain, and our faithfulness. Help us to trust You even when life seems unfair. Strengthen our hearts and keep us walking in righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
