Daily Bread Devotional:
Devotional Topic: "GOD'S POWERFUL PRESENCE"
Verse of the Day: Psalm 68:11
Devotional Message:
(Psalm 68:11)
"The Lord announces the word, and the women who proclaim it are a mighty throng."
Observation
Psalm 68 is a powerful chapter that describes God’s majesty, strength, and victory over His enemies. It reminds us that God is not distant—He is actively involved in our lives. Verse 11 specifically tells us that when God speaks, His message spreads through many voices. This verse highlights how God’s word does not stay silent; instead, it moves through people who are willing to share it.
The phrase “The Lord announces the word” shows that God is the one who takes the first step. He speaks, and His message has power. But what happens next is also important—His word is not meant to remain hidden. It is meant to be shared.
The verse also mentions that a mighty throng of women proclaims the message. This reminds us that God uses ordinary people, not just leaders or preachers, to spread His truth. In biblical times, women were often overlooked in society, yet God gave them a powerful role in sharing His word. This means that God’s message is not limited to a specific group—it is for everyone. If you are willing to speak, God can use you.
When God’s word is proclaimed, things change. Lives are transformed, hearts are renewed, and hope is restored. Just as in battle, where soldiers rally around their leader’s commands, we are called to respond when God speaks. His word brings life, direction, and victory.
Application
How does this apply to us today?
1. God is still speaking.
Just as God announced His word in the past, He still speaks today through Scripture, through the Holy Spirit, and even through the people around us. We need to make time to listen to Him. If we rush through life without seeking His voice, we might miss the guidance and encouragement He wants to give us.
2. We are called to share His message.
When we hear God’s word, we should not keep it to ourselves. We might think, I am not a pastor or a Bible teacher—how can I share God’s word? But sharing God’s message does not always mean preaching. It can be as simple as encouraging someone with a verse, sharing our testimony, or living in a way that reflects God’s love. When we live with kindness, patience, and faith, people see God’s truth in action.
3. God uses ordinary people.
The women in this verse were not famous or powerful by the world’s standards, but they were part of God’s plan. This means that no matter who we are, God can use us. You don’t need a big platform or a loud voice—God can work through your life in ways you might not even realize. A simple conversation, a small act of kindness, or a faithful prayer can be a way of spreading God’s message.
4. God’s word brings victory.
Psalm 68 is a song of victory. When God speaks, things happen. If we are struggling, we can trust in His promises. If we are afraid, we can find courage in His words. If we feel weak, we can remember that He is strong. His word is not just information—it is life-giving power that can change any situation.
No matter where you are in life, remember that God’s presence is powerful. He speaks, and when He does, His word moves forward. You are not alone in your faith journey—God is with you, guiding you, strengthening you, and calling you to share His message in your own way.
Let’s be people who listen to God’s word and boldly live it out. Because when we do, we become part of something much bigger than ourselves—a movement of God’s truth spreading in the world.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for speaking to us through Your word. Help us to listen to Your voice and to share Your truth with those around us. Use us in ways we never imagined, and let Your presence be powerful in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
