Introduction – The Identity Question

"Who am I?"
That’s a question many of us ask—especially during quiet moments when we’re alone or going through hard times. Sometimes, we try to answer it by looking at what others say about us. Maybe we hear things like, "You're smart," "You're a failure," "You're not good enough," or "You're special." But these opinions constantly change, and we end up confused.

Some people try to find their identity in their job, in school achievements, in looks, in relationships, or in their social media image. But when those things disappear or disappoint us, we’re left asking again: “Who am I, really?”

But the Bible gives us a clear, unshakable answer. John 1:12 tells us:
"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

That one verse holds a powerful truth that can change how we see ourselves forever.

Observation – What the Verse Says

Let’s break it down:

"Yet to all who did receive Him..." – This means that anyone—rich or poor, young or old, broken or proud—who opens their heart to Jesus is included. No one is left out. Jesus doesn’t only come for the religious, the perfect, or the strong. He comes for all who are willing to welcome Him into their lives.

"...to those who believed in His name..." – Believing in Jesus’ name is more than just knowing about Him. It means trusting Him fully, acknowledging that He is the Son of God, our Savior, and the one who died and rose again for us. It’s saying, “Jesus, I believe You are who You say You are, and I want You in my life.”

"...He gave the right to become children of God." – This is the life-changing part. When we believe and receive Jesus, God gives us something we
