Devotional Message:
(Matthew 6:6)
"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Observation (Devotional Message):

Think about someone you love. Maybe it's a friend, a parent, a spouse, or even your child. Now imagine you never speak to them. No calls, no texts, no time spent together. Over time, the relationship would grow distant. The love might still be there, but without communication, the closeness fades. That’s what can happen in our relationship with God if we don’t keep in touch with Him through prayer.

Jesus, in Matthew 6:6, is teaching us something very personal and powerful. He says, “But when you pray…” Not if, but when. In other words, Jesus expects that prayer is a normal part of our lives—not something we save for emergencies or special days. Prayer is how we stay connected with the heart of God.

He goes on to say, “Go into your room, close the door…” Why would Jesus tell us to do that? Because He knows that life is full of distractions. From morning to night, we are pulled in so many directions—work, school, social media, responsibilities, people. And while those things may not be bad, they often drown out the still, quiet voice of God.

When Jesus says to “go into your room and shut the door,” He’s inviting us into something deeper. He’s saying: Make space for Me. Find a place where it’s just you and Me. No performance, no audience, no need to pretend. Just come as you are. In that secret place, we can be fully honest. We can cry. We can laugh. We can ask questions. We can just be silent and let Him speak.

You see, prayer is not just talking—it’s also listening. It’s the sacred rhythm of two hearts beating together: your heart and God’s. And God doesn’t just listen—He sees. He sees what’s done in secret. He sees the tears you cry when no one
