Devotional Message:
(Ecclesiastes 2:25)
"Without [God], who can eat or find enjoyment?"

Observation:

Have you ever felt like you were just going through the motions of life? Waking up, getting dressed, going to work or school, eating meals, running errands, and finally crashing into bed—only to do it all again the next day? At first, these daily tasks may seem dull or unimportant. But Ecclesiastes 2:25 gives us a powerful reminder that changes everything: “Without [God], who can eat or find enjoyment?”

This verse is spoken by King Solomon, one of the wisest and richest men who ever lived. He had everything—wealth, fame, knowledge, pleasures—but even he came to a painful realization: none of it brought true joy when God wasn’t at the center.

Solomon had tried to find satisfaction in many ways. He built grand houses, planted gardens, gained wisdom, surrounded himself with music and entertainment, and accumulated possessions. But after all of that, he said it was like “chasing the wind.” It all felt meaningless when God was left out of the picture.

Then, in this one small verse, he gives us a key to true joy. He says, “Without God, who can eat or enjoy anything?” That means even the simplest things—like sharing a meal, enjoying time with family, or laughing with friends—lose their flavor and purpose if we forget about the One who gave them to us.

But here’s the good news: when we invite God into our routines, even the ordinary becomes extraordinary. Making your bed in the morning, preparing dinner, talking with a friend, doing your job—when done with a heart focused on God—can become moments of worship and joy.

This doesn’t mean every day will be perfect or easy. But it means every day has purpose. Every meal becomes a reminder of God’s provision. Every task becomes a way to honor Him. Every breath becomes a gift to be thankful for.
