Devotional Message:
(Psalm 147:3)
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
Observation:
Let’s break this verse down and really sit with each phrase.
: "He heals the brokenhearted..."
The word “brokenhearted” here is strong. It’s not just being a little sad. The original Hebrew word implies a heart that has been crushed or shattered—something that feels beyond repair. It's the kind of heartbreak that affects how you think, how you see the world, how you relate to people, and even how you relate to God.
Maybe you’ve been there. Maybe you’re there right now.
But look at who the healer is: He—God Himself. Not a motivational speech, not a self-help book, not even another human. Only God can heal this kind of pain. Because He doesn’t just see what happened—He sees how it changed you. He understands every detail, every emotion, and every wound—even the ones you’ve hidden from everyone else.
Now look at the next part:
: "...and binds up their wounds."
The image here is intimate and caring. Picture someone with a deep wound—a gash that’s still open, still bleeding. God doesn’t just glance at it. He doesn’t say, “You’ll be fine. Walk it off.” No—He comes close. He kneels down, He gets His hands involved, and He begins the work of binding. Wrapping. Covering. Protecting. Why? Because healing isn’t just about stopping the pain—it’s about caring for the hurt while the healing happens.
God is not only the Creator of the universe—He is the caregiver of your heart.
Application:
Now let’s talk about how this applies practically to your life.
1. Bring Your Brokenness to God—Not Just Your Strength.
We often think we have to be strong for God. We want to present our best selves—clean, composed, and capable. But God is not looking for your performance. He’s looking for your heart. Especially the broken parts.
God cannot heal the wounds we hide.
If you’re struggling
