Devotional Message:
(2 Chronicles 20:3)
"Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the LORD."

Observation:

Let’s take a moment to imagine what Jehoshaphat was facing. A vast army—multiple enemy nations—were marching toward him and his people. It wasn’t just one nation attacking, but a coalition. The Bible says Jehoshaphat was alarmed. That word means he was deeply afraid, caught off guard, maybe even overwhelmed. He was the king, the leader, and everyone was looking to him for answers—but in that moment, he didn’t pretend to be strong in his own power.

Instead, he resolved to inquire of the Lord. This means he made a deliberate choice, not a hasty reaction. He made up his mind to seek God first. He understood something that we need to understand today: the size of the problem doesn’t change the power of God.

Jehoshaphat didn’t gather his army first. He didn’t consult his advisors first. He didn’t set up defenses or try to run away. He went straight to God. This wasn’t a sign of weakness; it was a sign of wisdom. He was afraid, yes—but he responded with faith.

He didn’t keep this response to himself either. He called everyone in Judah to fast and pray. This shows us another key truth: prayer is not just personal; it’s also powerful when done in unity. When God's people come together in humble prayer, things shift in the spiritual realm.

This story teaches us that prayer is not just a spiritual routine. It is a strategic move. Jehoshaphat treated prayer as his battle plan, his weapon, his guidance system. And it worked—because as we read the whole chapter, God responded to that prayer with a powerful answer.
