Devotional Message:

Imagine you are standing on the edge of a deep, wide river. On one side, everything is dark and lifeless; on the other, there is light, warmth, and life. This river represents the divide between spiritual death and eternal life. And we are, in a way, born on the dark side. Sin has separated us from God, making us spiritually dead. But in John 5:24, Jesus promises that we can cross over from death to life.

Notice the power in His words. Jesus doesn’t just say, “You might cross over,” or “You could have eternal life.” He says we have eternal life — a promise that is certain and trustworthy. When we truly believe, we step out of darkness and into God’s light.

But what does “hearing” and “believing” really look like in our daily lives? Hearing Jesus’ words means taking time to listen to His teachings, not just with our ears but with our hearts. It means letting His message of love, forgiveness, and hope sink deep into us. And believing means living like His words are true. It’s about trusting Him, even when life gets hard. Believing is not just a one-time act but a daily choice to rely on God’s promises.

Think about the challenges we face: worries about the future, stress at work, broken relationships, or simply the struggle to find purpose. When we believe in Jesus and accept His word, we can approach these struggles differently. We know that, in Jesus, we have life that goes beyond these temporary problems. Eternal life isn’t just about heaven someday; it’s about a deep, rich, and peaceful life with God here and now. It’s about freedom from the fear of judgment and the weight of sin because Jesus has taken those burdens for us.
