Devotional Topic: Living Life to the Fullest with Jesus
READ: John 9:39-10:18
Verse of the Day: John 10:10
Devotional Message:
(John 10:10)
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
Observation:
This verse is powerful because Jesus is telling us that He didn’t just come to save us but to transform our lives completely. He describes Himself as the "Good Shepherd" who wants more for us than we often want for ourselves. The thief in this passage represents anything that steals our joy, our peace, or our purpose. This can be sin, negative thoughts, unhealthy relationships, or even our own fears and doubts.
Jesus contrasts Himself with this “thief.” He comes not to take but to give—to offer life in abundance. His presence in our lives brings us fulfillment that isn’t based on possessions or achievements. Instead, it’s a deep, unshakeable joy and peace. Jesus is essentially saying, “I am here to give you a life beyond anything you could imagine.” He wants us to experience a life filled with purpose, joy, and spiritual satisfaction.
Application:
Now, what does it mean to live life to the fullest with Jesus?l It doesn’t mean our lives will be without hardship or that we’ll always get what we want. Instead, living fully means trusting in Jesus and walking closely with Him every day. When we invite Jesus to guide us, He fills our lives with meaning and direction. Think of areas in your life where you might feel empty or lost. Jesus wants to fill those spaces with His love and purpose.
To live this abundant life, we need to align our hearts with His. This might mean spending more time in prayer, being willing to forgive others, or choosing to see the good, even in difficult situations. Abundance in Jesus isn’t about what we have but how we live—trusting Him to provide for us, listening for His voice, and choosing to follow His example of kindness, generosity, and love. Living a full life with Jesus also means saying “no” to things that distract us from Him. It’s letting go of habits, thoughts, or relationships that don’t lead us closer to His peace and joy.
So, today, let’s ask ourselves: Am I allowing Jesus to be my Shepherd? Am I trusting Him to fill my life with true, lasting joy? The abundant life is ours if we choose to walk with Him and let go of anything that would “steal” our joy or peace.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for being our Good Shepherd who gives us life to the fullest. Help us to trust You more, to let go of what holds us back, and to follow You daily. Fill our lives with Your peace, joy, and purpose, and help us to live fully in Your love. Amen.
